神经功能调控与神经退行性疾病早期发病机制。

神经细胞是大脑的功能单位，它们的正常调控是维持所有高等认知功能，如感知、学习与记忆储存等的生理基础；而异常调控则会直接造成神经功能障碍，是各类神经系统疾病，尤其是退行性疾病的主要原因。因此，深入研究神经功能的调控机制是认识大脑运作的关键，同时也是了解神经系统疾病发病机制、促进疾病预防和治疗的重要手段。

神经功能受到很多因素调控，其中我们最感兴趣的是睡眠在其中发挥的作用。睡眠作为普遍存在于生物界的一个保守的生理现象，对维持生物机体功能包括脑功能至关重要。然而，目前我们对睡眠如何调控神经功能了解得非常有限。另外，神经系统疾病如退行性疾病患者大都患有不同程度不同类型的睡眠障碍，且睡眠障碍通常远早于脑疾病其他病症出现，说明睡眠与脑疾病有非常密切的联系。因此，我们实验室研究的主要问题包括：1）正常生理状态下，睡眠对神经功能如神经信号传导、神经可塑性、神经网络稳态等的调控作用和调控机制；2）睡眠障碍与神经退行性疾病的相互关系；3）神经退行性疾病的早期发病机制研究。我们将综合运用体内外电生理和显微成像、光遗传、药物学、细胞生物学、和行为学分析等多种手段，来研究以上问题。
