1988年毕业于中国地质大学(武汉)地球化学系地球化学与勘查专业,获工学学士学位;1991年8月至1997年10月在中国科学院地球化学研究所环境地球化学国家重点实验室攻读硕士和博士学位,并于1994年和1997年分别获地球化学理学硕士和博士学位;1997年11月至2000年12月在瑞典哥德堡大学无机化学系从事博士后研究。

1988年9月至1991年7月在湖北省地质矿产局安全环保研究所从事环境监测工作;1999年入选中国科学院“海外杰出人才引进计划”,2000年12月回国工作,任中国科学院地球化学研究所环境地球化学国家重点实验室副主任、研究员,博士生导师。
